In Kyiv, a drunk driver crashed into a store and was arrested

On June 20, in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, the driver of a Hyundai crashed into a store on Sadova Street. According to preliminary reports, the man was intoxicated and behaving aggressively, prompting law enforcement officers to detain him using handcuffs.

 

While speaking with the driver, officers noticed clear signs of intoxication. The man behaved aggressively, so he was detained with handcuffs in accordance with Article 45 of the Law of Ukraine “On the National Police” and taken to the police station.

It turned out that the driver had initially struck concrete barriers and damaged a power pole, after which he left the scene of the accident and continued driving. Later, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a store building.

No one was injured in the accident.

The man agreed to undergo a sobriety test at a medical facility. The result was 2.67 per mille of alcohol.

Patrol officers issued a citation to the driver under Part 1 of Article 130 (Driving a vehicle while intoxicated), two citations under Article 124 (Traffic violation resulting in an accident), one report under Article 122-4 (Fleeing the scene of an accident), a detention report, and issued a ruling under Part 1 of Article 126 (Driving a vehicle without insurance) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The court will now decide the case, according to the Kyiv Patrol Police.

A major traffic accident occurred in Kyiv on June 5, killing four people and injuring three others. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Vadym Hetman and Ushynsky Streets near Karavaevy Dachi. Two young police officers were killed in this accident.

The day before, a farewell ceremony for two beat officers from the Solom— Lieutenant Denys Budchenko and Senior Lieutenant Dmytro Bondarchuk.
