Kyiv is preparing to complete construction on another section of the Great Ring Road
A tender has been announced in Kyiv to complete construction of the section of the Great Ring Road between Dmytro Pavlychko Avenue and Bohatyrska Street. More than 321 million hryvnias are planned to be spent on the work. Most of the project was built back in 2021, and now the city is moving on to the final stage.
A new phase of construction on the Great Ring Road has begun in the capital. The municipal enterprise “Kyiv Road and Transport Infrastructure Construction Directorate” has announced a tender for work on the section from Dmytro Pavlychko Avenue to Bohatyrska Street.
The estimated cost of the project is over 321.4 million hryvnias, including VAT. This involves continuing the construction of the Great Ring Road along with a multi-level interchange. The bulk of the work on this section was completed several years ago. In December 2021, a temporary service road was opened here. This improved connectivity between Kyiv’s northern districts and suburban areas.

After the road opened to traffic, it helped partially relieve Taras Shevchenko Square and the surrounding thoroughfares of transit traffic. It also became easier for vehicles heading toward Vyshhorod to travel from the Gostomel direction and from the Zhytomyr Highway. In addition, drivers now have a direct connection between Litovskyi Avenue and Bohatyrska Street in both directions.
Nevertheless, a number of additional tasks must be completed before the project can be fully put into operation. Specifically, the future contractor must:
- reconfigure the power supply networks;
- build a new transformer substation in accordance with the updated technical specifications;
- complete the finishing work on the underground pedestrian underpass;
- install the underpass’s power supply systems;
- carry out other finishing work.
City officials emphasize that the Velyka Okruzhna Road remains one of Kyiv’s most important infrastructure projects. Its development should help reduce traffic congestion in the city center and improve transportation links between the capital’s main thoroughfares and the suburbs. The tender will be conducted in accordance with the public procurement rules in effect during martial law. Once the winner is selected, the city will be able to move on to the final stage of implementing this road project.
As a result, Kyiv is set to gain another fully completed section of the Great Ring Road, which should make traffic flow more smoothly and help reduce congestion on several key routes in the capital. To this end, the Kyiv Municipal Enterprise “Directorate for the Construction of Road and Transport Infrastructure” has announced a tender for a complex of construction and engineering works on the section from Dmytro Pavlychko Avenue to Bohatyrska Street.
