A deserter who was registering Starlink accounts for Russians was detained in Kyiv

In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained a mobilized serviceman who had deserted his unit in the Kharkiv region and, according to the investigation, began collaborating with the Russian side by carrying out tasks related to the registration of Starlink terminals.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

After deserting his unit, the man began looking for “quick money” and eventually came to the attention of Russian handlers. He was offered money to register satellite internet terminals that could be used for communication by enemy units.

The investigation established that the suspect, in exchange for a monetary reward of approximately $100, registered one Starlink terminal in his own name and later registered another one—this time in the name of an acquaintance.

According to law enforcement, the man intended to recruit at least 20 more people into the scheme to mass-register satellite terminals for subsequent use in the interests of Russian forces.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained the suspect during routine operations. All terminals that he had managed to register were blocked to prevent their further use.

Law enforcement agencies continue to identify possible accomplices and communication channels with the clients.

Earlier, the Counterintelligence Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent in Odesa who, according to the investigation, was planning the assassination of a high-ranking official of the Ukrainian Navy.

The Security Service of Ukraine neutralized a Russian military intelligence agent in the Donetsk region who was planning shelling attacks on Kramatorsk and destroying property belonging to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The SBU also detained a Russian agent who was directing airstrikes on Sloviansk.

As a reminder, the SBU has referred the case of Andriy Parubiy’s murder to court.
