Oil products have once again leaked into Kyrylivske Lake in the capital following a Russian strike
In Kyiv, an industrial facility was damaged as a result of a Russian attack on September 22, causing petroleum products to spill into the Syrets Stream and Lake Kyrylivske.
The pollution occurred when water used to extinguish the fire and rainfall washed away residual oil emulsion. The shelling damaged the containment boom on the lake, but State Emergency Service rescuers quickly repaired it. According to Andriy Vagin, head of the municipal enterprise “Pleso,” utility workers have installed new sorption booms, cleared the storm drain grate, and are taking preventive measures ahead of future rains.
Currently, experts have collected water samples for laboratory testing to assess the level of contamination and determine next steps. The situation remains under constant monitoring by municipal services.

Since the morning of September 23, Russia has been launching a massive attack on Kyiv with strike drones. Hits and falling debris have been recorded in several districts of the capital; fires have broken out, and there is one fatality and several injured. As of 12:45 p.m., the attack was ongoing.
In addition, a Ukrnafta gas station in Kyiv was completely destroyed following the Russian attack.
