On Sunday, June 21, metro service and some public transportation routes in central Kyiv will be temporarily adjusted. This is due to public events taking place in the city, according to the Kyiv City State Administration.
From the start of train service until the end of the events, the “Ploshcha Ukrayins’kykh Heroiv” and “Palats Sportu” metro stations will be closed to passengers. The transfer hub between these stations will also be out of service. During this time, trains will pass by them without stopping.
The Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Transportation Infrastructure clarified that the restrictions will be in effect during the first half of the day. City officials promised to notify residents separately when the stations return to normal operation. “Further announcements will be made regarding the resumption of normal station operations,” the city administration noted.
In addition, from the start of service and approximately until 2:00 p.m., the routes of several trolleybuses and buses in the capital will be changed. The changes will affect trolleybuses Nos. 4, 5, 7, 8, and 17. They will run from their terminal stops to Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, then continue along Leontovych, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, and Pirogov Streets, after which they will return to their usual routes. The routes for buses Nos. 24, 62, 109, 110, 111, 114, and 118-D will also be changed.
Bus No. 24 will run from the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II to Baseina Street along its usual route, and then continue via Esplanadna, Saksahanskoho, and Symon Petliura Streets to the Central Railway Station.
Bus No. 62, after Basseina Street, will proceed via Esplanadna Street, the “Palats Sportu” metro station, Rognidynska Street, and Shota Rustaveli Street.
Bus No. 109 will run from the “Kharkivska” metro station to Antonovych Street, and then along Hetman Pavlo Skoropadskyi Street, Ukrainian Heroes Square, and Velyka Vasylkivska Street.
Buses No. 110 and No. 111 will temporarily run only as far as European Square.
Bus No. 114 will also take a detour via Independence Square, Mykhailivska Street, Velyka Zhytomyrska Street, Volodymyrska Street, Bohdan Khmelnytsky Street, Pirogov Street, and Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, before continuing on to the Central Railway Station.
Bus No. 118-D will proceed past Baseina Street via Esplanadna, Saksahanskoho, and Beresteiskyi Avenue, and then return to its usual route. “We ask passengers to take these temporary changes into account when planning their trips around the city,” the Kyiv City State Administration’s Department of Transportation Infrastructure urged. City officials advise Kyiv residents and visitors to check routes in advance and allow for possible delays when traveling through the city center. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
