The government will allocate an additional ₴2 billion to Kyiv for the protection of energy facilities — Svyrydenko
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Kyiv city authorities have fully coordinated their joint efforts to prepare the capital’s infrastructure for the upcoming heating season.
This was officially announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko following a special meeting of the relevant task force.
The main goal of the cooperation is to ensure the stable operation of the city’s energy sector during the winter.
The state has already allocated significant financial resources to strengthen the power grid and protect key critical infrastructure facilities in the capital.
Relevant agencies and representatives of the Kyiv City State Administration have developed a clear plan of action that will allow for a rapid response to the challenges of the winter season.
The central government is taking on the financing of large-scale projects to modernize and protect equipment, while local services will be responsible for the direct execution of work on the ground.
“I participated in a meeting of the energy task force regarding Kyiv’s preparations for the upcoming heating season. We coordinated the actions of the government and city authorities,” the head of government reported.
The Cabinet of Ministers has identified the capital’s safety as one of its main priorities for the coming months. Significant funds have already been allocated from the state budget to implement urgent plans, and the next phase of financial support is being prepared.
The total investment in the safety of Kyiv residents will reach several billion hryvnias. Svyrydenko noted that ensuring Kyiv gets through the coming winter without disruption is a top priority.
The government has already allocated nearly 1 billion hryvnias for priority measures and is preparing additional funding of 2 billion hryvnias to protect energy facilities and equipment.
During the headquarters meeting, special attention was paid to ensuring the self-sufficiency of the city’s housing stock.
Authorities continue to implement special technical solutions that will allow high-rise buildings to function even during temporary power outages.
“We are also continuing to implement a pilot project to provide backup power for apartment buildings in Kyiv—involving the purchase and installation of batteries, inverters, and generators to power elevators, building systems, and lighting in common areas,” the Prime Minister added.
Svyrydenko confirmed the allocation of a €2.8 billion tranche from the EU to Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated an additional 350 million hryvnias for the modernization of school cafeterias as part of the state program to develop food infrastructure in educational institutions.
