The film *2,000 Meters to Andriivka* won an Emmy for Outstanding Directing

The documentary film "2,000 Meters to Andriivka" by Ukrainian director Mstislav Chernov won a News & Documentary Emmy Award in the "Outstanding Directing for a Documentary" category.

This was officially announced by the independent American investigative media platform Frontline.

This world-class professional recognition confirms the high artistic and historical value of Ukrainian cinema during the war.

The ceremony took place as part of a major international event celebrating the most significant achievements in journalism and documentary filmmaking.

The Ukrainian film attracted significant attention from film critics thanks to its unique visual style and deep immersion in the reality of combat operations.

“At the 47th News & Documentary Emmy Awards ceremony, which took place on Thursday, the film ‘2,000 Meters to Andriivka’ received the award in the ‘Outstanding Directing: Documentary’ category,” the organizers noted.

The documentary’s narrative focuses on the real historical events of the defense and de-occupation of Ukraine’s eastern regions.

The director meticulously recreated the chronicle of fierce clashes, showcasing the superhuman efforts of Ukrainian defenders in the fight for every meter of their homeland.

The film tells the story of the liberation of the village of Andriivka near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region in September 2023.

In particular, it highlights the work of Ukrainian soldiers from the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who must overcome a heavily fortified forest to liberate Andriivka.

To create the maximum sense of presence, the filmmakers used a combination of various sources of exclusive video footage.

This allowed viewers to see the war through the eyes of those directly involved in the events, without unnecessary artistic embellishment.

The filmmakers combined their own footage, video from the body cameras of Ukrainian soldiers, and moments of personal reflection. This approach gave the film maximum realism and drama.
