Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son has officially dropped his father's last name
Maddox, the 24-year-old eldest son of American actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has filed paperwork to officially change his last name.
This was reported by the Daily Mail.
He now plans to officially go by the name Maddox Chivan Jolie. He himself called this decision “personal.”
His desire to drop the Pitt surname first came to light back in February 2026.
While working as an assistant to director Alice Vinokur on the film “Couture,” in which Angelina Jolie played the lead role, he was listed in the credits as Maddox Jolie.
At the same time, in the credits for the film “Maria” (2024), he was still listed as Maddox Jolie-Pitt.
Maddox is not the first of Jolie and Pitt’s children to publicly distance himself from his father’s surname.
Previously, Vivienne was listed as Vivienne Jolie in the credits of a Broadway musical, Zahara publicly introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie, and Shiloh officially changed her name to Shiloh Jolie.
The former couple has six children:
- Maddox — 24 years old;
- Pax — 22 years old;
- Zahara — 21 years old;
- Shiloh — 19 years old;
- twins Knox and Vivienne — both 17 years old.
Brad Pitt's representatives have not yet commented on the situation.
