Israel’s public broadcaster Kan apologized to the Armenian public broadcaster after the Azerbaijani flag was shown for Armenia in a news segment aired during the Eurovision Song Contest on the eve of the semifinals.
The incident came to light after a complaint from the leadership of the Armenian public broadcaster, conveyed to Kan’s Director General Golan Yohpaz at a reception for broadcasters’ executives in Vienna a few hours before the contest’s final.
In an official letter addressed to a representative of Armenia’s public broadcaster, Yochpaz described what happened as “purely a graphic error” made without malicious intent during the news broadcast.
Yohpaz stated that an internal investigation confirmed the unintentional nature of the incident, adding: “We acknowledge that such an error should not have occurred, and we sincerely regret any misunderstanding this may have caused.”
Earlier, Ukrainian singer Viktoria Leleka shared her first impressions following the conclusion of the final round of the “Eurovision 2026” international song contest, which took place on May 16 in Vienna. The artist candidly admitted that she is usually critical of her own creative work, but this time she left the main stage with a profound sense of happiness and a sense of duty fulfilled.
Ahead of the Eurovision 2026 grand final, bookmakers updated their predictions, and Ukraine’s chances of winning plummeted.
