Netflix has signed a multi-year deal with Warner Music to produce music documentaries
The streaming platform Netflix and Warner Music Group have signed a multi-year agreement to produce documentaries and series exploring the lives, work, and legacies of artists.
This was reported by Reuters.
As part of the partnership, Netflix will gain access to Warner Music’s extensive music catalog, which includes both legendary artists and contemporary stars. Among them are David Bowie, Cher, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, and Joni Mitchell, as well as Charli XCX, Coldplay, and Bruno Mars.
It is noted that projects will be created in collaboration with the artists or their successors. Production will be handled by Unigram, a company affiliated with Warner Music, which will serve as a studio for long-term initiatives.
The deal reflects the growing competition among streaming services for music content. Companies are increasingly turning music catalogs into video content to attract new subscribers.
