Netflix is set to release a new series about the Ghostbusters

Netflix has confirmed that it is developing a new animated series set in the *Ghostbusters* universe, scheduled to premiere in 2027. One of the creators of the iconic franchise, Dan Aykroyd, will also join the project as an executive producer.

The new series is being produced by Sony Pictures Animation for Netflix.

Dan Aykroyd played Ray Stantz in the original 1984 film "Ghostbusters" and co-wrote the screenplay with Harold Ramis. He later reprised the role in the films "Ghostbusters II," "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," and "Ghostbusters: Ice Empire."

In the 2016 franchise reboot, Aykroyd appeared in a cameo role as a taxi driver and served as an executive producer. He held the same position during the production of *Afterlife* and *Ice Empire*.

The upcoming Netflix series will not be the first television project in the franchise. In 1986, ABC released the animated series *The Real Ghostbusters*, which ran for six seasons.

Although the animated series was based on the original film, the franchise’s actors—Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis, and Annie Potts—did not voice their characters. Instead, the roles were performed by Frank Welker, Lorenzo Music, Dave Coulier, Maurice LaMarche, Roger Bumpass, and Laura Sommer.

In 1997, the franchise received another animated series—*Ghostbusters: The Animated Series*. It ran for only one season.

The premiere of the new Netflix series is set for 2027—the 30th anniversary of *Ghostbusters: Afterlife* and the 43rd anniversary of the franchise itself.

Plot details have not yet been revealed. All that is known is that the events of the new project will unfold within the "Ghostbusters" universe. The cast has not yet been announced, so it is currently unknown whether Dan Aykroyd will voice one of the characters in addition to serving as an executive producer.

Earlier, Ivo Bobul publicly defended Taisiya Povaliy and Ani Lorak, who had moved to Russia and subsequently supported his position. The singer believes that conditions were created in Ukraine that made it impossible for them to continue their careers.

After People’s Artist of Ukraine Ivo Bobul justified his compatriot Ani Lorak’s move to Russia by claiming that she was allegedly prevented from working in Ukraine, the singer herself—who is accused in Ukraine of betraying her homeland—also echoed this version of events.
