Starting in 2029, the Oscars ceremony will move to the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles
Starting in 2029, the Oscars, one of the world’s most prestigious film awards, will be held not at the Dolby Theatre but at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The new venue will be the permanent location through 2039.
This was reported by Variety.
The first year of the ceremony at the new venue will coincide with the transition of the broadcast to the YouTube video platform after many years of airing on ABC. The 101st Academy Awards ceremony will take place in 2029.
The Dolby Theatre has hosted the Oscars since 2002, with the exception of 2021, when the ceremony took place at Union Station due to the coronavirus pandemic. The move is part of a partnership between the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and AEG, which manages the L.A. Live complex where the Peacock Theatre is located.
As a reminder, the 98th Academy Awards ceremony took place on the night of March 15–16 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Conan O’Brien hosted the event, and actor Oleksiy Hnatkovsky provided commentary for the broadcast in Ukraine.
Organizers of the 98th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles stepped up security measures. This was prompted by a warning from the FBI about a possible drone attack from Iran.
In Tehran, Iranian security forces detained Mehdi Mahmudian, one of the screenwriters of the film "A Simple Coincidence," which was nominated for an Oscar in two categories.
