Video: Red-listed pelicans with a wingspan of up to 3 meters were spotted in the Odesa region
Pink and Dalmatian pelicans have been spotted in the “Tuzlivski Limany” National Nature Park in the Odesa region.
A video featuring these rare birds was released by Ivan Rusev, Ph.D. in Biology and head of the park’s research department. According to him, the pelicans were resting after hunting in the Shagany Estuary.
A Dalmatian pelican can weigh up to 12 kg, reach 1.8 meters in length, and have a wingspan of nearly 3 meters. The species is listed in Ukraine’s Red Book.
Pink pelicans are slightly smaller: they weigh about 10–12 kg, and their wingspan is up to 2 meters. They are also protected and listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
