Ween to release box set of seven Chocolate and Cheese tour concerts — Rolling Stone

Ween will release the Boognish Provides box set on October 16, featuring recordings of seven full concerts from the 1994–1995 U.S. and Belgium tour in support of the album Chocolate and Cheese. Rolling Stone reports.

Seven concerts on 14 compact discs

The Rhino release will consist of 14 compact discs. It will include recordings of performances in Santa Monica on October 9, 1994; Chicago on October 30; Minneapolis on October 31; Athens, Georgia, on February 10, 1995; Antwerp, Belgium, on March 27; Boulder on May 20; and Philadelphia on June 16.

During this tour, the duo Gene and Dean Ween, also known as Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, performed as a band for the first time. They were joined by drummer Claude Coleman and bassist Andrew Weiss.

Vinyl version and concert recording

Each concert includes more than a dozen tracks from Chocolate and Cheese, as well as songs from the band's other albums, including “Flutes of Chi” from White Pepper and “The Blarney Stone” from The Mollusk. A two-record vinyl edition featuring a selection of recordings from the seven shows is also planned.

Ahead of the release, Ween shared a 24-minute performance of “Vallejo,” recorded on February 10, 1995, at the 40 Watt Club in Athens. The band has been on hiatus since 2022, but has released reissues and archival concert recordings in recent years.
