DTEK explained that during load-shedding, it is not individual buildings that are cut off from power, but rather the power facilities that supply them. That is why entire neighborhoods or groups of buildings are often left without electricity.
The company noted that several buildings may be connected to a single transformer substation, and sometimes even different entrances of the same building are powered by different substations. Because of this, they may be shut off according to different schedules.
Exceptions apply only to critical infrastructure facilities officially designated by regional military administrations, as well as to buildings connected to the same power lines.
DTEK emphasized that power outage schedules are generated automatically using special software, and utility workers are trying to distribute the time with electricity evenly among all groups.
As a reminder, emergency power outages were introduced in the Sumy region on July 8.
In Ukraine, power outage schedules may be implemented due to increased strain on the power grid or as a result of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure.
