Roivant reports Phase II goals met in mosliciguat study
Roivant’s experimental drug mosliciguat for the treatment of one type of pulmonary hypertension met the goals of a Phase II study. In the 16-week trial, the drug demonstrated statistically significant results, STAT News reports.
Reduction in vascular resistance
According to Roivant, mosliciguat provided a statistically significant 56% reduction in pulmonary vascular resistance compared with placebo. This measure characterizes pressure and blood flow in the artery connecting the right side of the heart to the lungs.

Secondary endpoints
The company also reported statistically significant achievement of key secondary endpoints after 16 weeks. The six-minute walk distance increased by 35 meters compared with placebo. The level of NT-proBNP — a biomarker of heart failure measured in the blood — decreased by 53% compared with placebo.
Roivant said it was pleasantly surprised by the scale of the results. As STAT News notes, the positive data could open a new approach to treating severe lung disease and could also potentially strengthen the biotechnology company’s financial position due to the prospect of a second blockbuster drug.
