Nigeria warns about four medicines recalled in Pakistan
Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned healthcare workers, importers, distributors, sellers and the public about four medicines recalled by the Pakistani regulator due to quality issues.
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Pakistan’s Drug Regulatory Authority (DRAP) recalled specific batches of Nitras and Kadin 2 tablets, Acefyl cough syrup and Loratadine 24 tablets. NAFDAC said the medicines were classified as substandard or adulterated — a category of quality violations cited by the Pakistani regulator.
Recalled batches
The list includes Nitras tablets containing glyceryl trinitrate, manufactured by M/s Caraway Pharma in Rawat, batch 24L069. They were classified as substandard.

Kadin 2 tablets containing tizanidine hydrochloride, manufactured by M/S FYNK Pharma in Lahore, batch 569, were classified as adulterated. The same classification was given to Acefyl syrup containing acefylline piperazine, manufactured by M/s NABIQASIM Industries in Karachi, batch ACH479, and Loratadine 24 tablets containing loratadine, manufactured by M/S Murfy Pharma in Lahore, batch 24.
NAFDAC measures
The agency said it is monitoring the situation to ensure that the recalled medicines do not enter the Nigerian market. Heads of regional offices and state coordinators were instructed to conduct surveillance and remove these medicines if they are found.
According to NAFDAC, using such medicines may lead to reduced treatment effectiveness, unexpected adverse reactions or treatment failure. The regulator urged people not to buy or use the listed medicines and to purchase medicines only from authorized or licensed suppliers.
