New malware on WhatsApp targets cryptocurrency wallets and exchanges
A new virus is spreading on WhatsApp, distributed under the guise of messages from “friends” and fake investment chats. Just one click allows the Trojan to access the user’s device and contacts, posing a significant security threat. This is particularly critical as the malware targets crypto wallets and exchange apps.

The Trojan scans popular crypto wallets and platforms, including Binance, OKX, Coinbase, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Ledger Live, and Phantom. Although the main wave of attacks is currently focused in Brazil, any WhatsApp user worldwide could potentially be affected.
Experts advise caution with links even from known contacts and recommend keeping antivirus software updated. We can expect further escalation of attacks on the crypto sector via social media channels.
