Ukrainian banks have provided 41.5 billion hryvnia in financing for energy projects

From June 1, 2024, to April 1, 2026, under a joint memorandum, banks provided financing for the restoration of the power grid in 21 regions of Ukraine.

This was reported by the National Bank of Ukraine. During this period, businesses received over 3,500 loans totaling 38.6 billion UAH, while households received over 16,000 loans totaling 2.9 billion UAH to enhance energy independence following Russian attacks.

Thanks to bank financing, projects are being implemented to develop and reconstruct power generation facilities with a total capacity of 1.517 GW. The funds are being directed toward the creation of solar power plants, as well as gas, hydro, bio, and wind power facilities. In addition to generation, funding is provided for energy storage systems, the purchase of inverters and batteries, and the modernization of heating equipment with a capacity of an additional 631 MW.

As of April 1, 2026, the gross portfolio of energy loans stands at 27 billion UAH for legal entities and 2.3 billion UAH for individuals, taking into account the gradual repayment of previous loans. While Ukraine is actively rebuilding its energy infrastructure, the Russian economy has officially entered a recession, limiting its ability to continue military aggression on the same scale as before. Strengthening the energy sector is part of Ukraine’s strategic partnership with its Western allies.

As a reminder, the NBU may revoke MTB Bank’s license.

Additionally, on November 4, the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) decided to classify JSC “RVS Bank” as insolvent.
