Wholesale prices for all types of tomatoes have risen in Ukraine
Over the past week, Ukraine has seen a rise in wholesale prices for domestically grown tomatoes. At the capital’s wholesale market, prices for red, pink, and field tomatoes have gone up. At the same time, prices in retail chains vary significantly depending on the type of product, region, and the availability of special promotional offers.
At the Kyiv wholesale market, the average price of red Ukrainian tomatoes rose the most—by 14.29 percent—reaching 40 hryvnias per kilogram, with peak prices of up to 45 hryvnias. Pink tomatoes rose in price by 11.11 percent and remained the most expensive category in the wholesale market, with an average price of 50 hryvnias per kilogram. Field-grown tomatoes remain the least expensive, having also increased by 11.11 percent and costing an average of 20 hryvnias per kilogram.
According to data from the Minfin portal, in mid-September, the average retail price of red tomatoes in stores was 51.55 hryvnia per kilogram, while pink tomatoes averaged 57.43 hryvnia. At ATB supermarkets, field-grown tomatoes can be purchased for 19.90 hryvnia per kilogram, and pink tomatoes for 59.89 hryvnia. At Novus stores, pink tomatoes are offered at a promotional price of 49.99 hryvnia per kilogram, while “Slivka” tomatoes are priced at 39.99 hryvnia. At Silpo stores, "Slivka" field-grown tomatoes cost 30.90 hryvnia per kilogram, while promotional pink tomatoes are sold for 72.50 hryvnia per kilogram.
In addition, purchase prices for raw milk are rising in Ukraine due to increased export demand and higher prices for commodities on the global market.
