On July 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held another meeting with former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. This was reported by Ukrinform, citing the president’s communications adviser, Dmytro Lytvyn.

Lytvyn did not provide any details about the meeting. It took place amid protests in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, which have been ongoing for the sixth consecutive day, demanding that Fedorov be reinstated as defense minister and that Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi be removed from office.

Protests with these demands took place on July 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20. Earlier, Zelenskyy acknowledged that Fedorov and Syrskyi had been unable to find common ground, and that problems on the battlefield, within the brigades, and regarding mobilization remained unresolved.

On July 18, the president stated that he had held talks with former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, and promised that “solutions regarding the army will be worked out.” On July 20, Syrskyi apologized to Fedorov and stated that he had been unaware of the conflict between them.
