15-year-old Sklyar defeated a Russian player in the opening round of the Junior Wimbledon tournament
Fifteen-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Polina Sklyar got off to a strong start at the Junior Wimbledon, defeating “neutral” player Kateryna Dotsenko in the first round.
The match ended with a victory for our athlete in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
The match lasted exactly one hour and eleven minutes, during which the Ukrainian demonstrated confident play on the grass court.
Thanks to this victory, Polina Sklyar, who is seeded 15th in the tournament, advanced to the second round of the Grand Slam competition in London.
The Ukrainian’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Britain’s Ophelia Korpanets Davis and Alissa James of Jamaica.
Polina continues her quest for the prestigious trophy, demonstrating a high level of skill on the world stage.
