Brisbane reach fifth consecutive NRLW final — ABC News Australia

Australian club Brisbane Broncos defeated Gold Coast Titans 20:8 in the Women's National Rugby League (NRLW) preliminary final in Robina and advanced to their fifth consecutive grand final. As ABC News Australia reports, the reigning champions will face Sydney Roosters in next Sunday's decisive match.

First-half advantage

The Broncos led 20:4 at halftime after scoring four tries. Tamika Upton opened the scoring after beating three opponents, while Jessie Southwell passed to Romy Teitzel. Later, Upton set up Lauren Dam, and Teitzel created an opportunity for Julia Robinson.

The Titans responded with a try from Destiny Mino-Sinapati after a pass from Evania Isaako. Near the end of the first half, the Gold Coast team lost Sienna Lofipo, who was removed from the game with a suspected broken jaw.

Final against Sydney

After the break, Isaako collected the ball following her own kick, but Brisbane's defence did not allow the Titans to build on their momentum. Titans fullback Lily Patston also left the match early for a category-one head injury assessment.

The upcoming grand final will be the Broncos' fifth in the club's history, and they have won all four previous ones. Last year's final against the Roosters ended in a 22:18 Brisbane victory. The match will also be the last in the career of club legend Ali Brigginshaw, who will retire after it.
