Elena Rybakina beats Coco Gauff to reach US Open final
Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina defeated American Coco Gauff in the US Open semifinal in New York, United States, 3:6, 6:4, 6:4 and advanced to the tournament’s deciding match. In the final, she will play defending champion Aryna Sabalenka.
How the semifinal unfolded
Gauff won the first set after breaking serve in the sixth game. The American withstood her opponent’s constant pressure from the baseline and forced Rybakina into errors. Former US first lady Michelle Obama was among those watching the match at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Deciding set
In the third set, 27-year-old Rybakina broke serve thanks to her powerful play and took a 5:3 lead. Gauff broke back but was unable to hold her own serve. Rybakina broke the American’s serve again and finished the match with a victory. She retained a chance to win her third Grand Slam title.
