The Atlético forward has signed a contract with an American club

Antoine Griezmann, a forward for Atlético Madrid, is transferring to the MLS club Orlando City. 

The American team’s official website announced on March 24 that the French soccer player has signed a contract through the end of the 2027/28 season with an option to extend for another year. 

The player will join his new team this summer, with the Spanish club planning to release its all-time leading scorer on a free transfer as a gesture of gratitude for his years of service, despite his contract running through 2027.

This season, Griezmann has played 43 matches for the "Mattress Makers" across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists. The player himself told Orlando City’s press office that he is impressed by the Florida club’s ambitions and is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career in the U.S. The French forward is a 2018 World Cup champion, a Europa League winner, and a holder of the Spanish and UEFA Super Cups, and has twice finished third in the Ballon d’Or voting.

Atlético advanced to the Spanish Cup final despite a 0-3 loss to Barcelona.
