Yastremska advanced to the semifinals of the Parma Open after defeating the Argentine player
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska won her quarterfinal match at the Challenger tournament in Parma, defeating fifth-seeded Solana Sierra. This match marked a successful rematch for the Ukrainian, who had lost to the Argentine at the tournament in Madrid in late April.
This was reported by Glavkom.
Despite a tense second set, in which her opponent managed to come back from a 0-5 deficit, Yastremska rallied in time and closed out the match, converting a match point on her fourth attempt.
In the first set, Dayana was in complete control, closing out the set in 33 minutes thanks to three successful breaks. The second set proved more dramatic: after a strong start and five consecutive games won, the Ukrainian’s play faltered slightly, allowing Sierro to even the score. However, Yastremska proved stronger in the decisive moments, winning the final two games and securing her spot in the final four.
Thanks to this success, the tournament’s third seed continues her quest for the title in Italy. The Ukrainian’s next opponent will be determined later. A victory in Parma will allow Yastremska to improve her position in the world rankings ahead of the start of the season’s next major tournaments.
