Italian footballer Sandro Mazzola dies at 83 — Asharq Al-Awsat
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, Italian footballer and former Inter captain Sandro Mazzola has died at the age of 83. The Milan club, for which Mazzola spent his entire 17-year playing career, announced his death on September 19.
Inter’s statement
Inter said that president Giuseppe Marotta, vice president Javier Zanetti, head coach Cristian Chivu, his staff, players and club employees deeply mourn Mazzola’s death. The club called him a legend of the Nerazzurri and world football.
As reported by the Associated Press, the cause of Mazzola’s death was not announced.

The footballer’s career
Mazzola played as an attacking midfielder and second striker. He made 565 appearances and scored 158 goals for Inter, helping the team win Serie A four times and the European Cup twice.
With the Italy national team, Sandro Mazzola became European champion in 1968.
