In the Japanese city of Ichinomiya, Singaporean badminton player Loh Kean Yew will face Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the men’s singles final of the Asian Games. Loh is ranked 13th in the world and has already secured Singapore’s best-ever result in badminton at these competitions.

Chance for a first gold

A victory in the final could bring Singapore its first Asian Games gold medal in badminton. Kunlavut Vitidsarn, in turn, became the first representative of Thailand to reach the men’s singles final and could win his country’s first Asian Games gold medal in singles.

The match is set to take place at the Ichinomiya Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture. In the semifinal, Loh Kean Yew played against South Korean athlete Yoo Tae Bin.
