Luzan won gold at the European Championships and set a new lead record
Ukrainian canoeist Lyudmila Luzan became the 2026 European champion in the women’s single canoe 200-meter event.
In the final race in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, the Ukrainian clocked a time of 43.710 seconds, finishing more than 1.7 seconds ahead of her closest rival from Italy.
The silver medal went to Olimpia Della Giustina (Italy), and the bronze to Dorota Borowska (Poland).
For Luzan, this is her fifth gold medal at the European Championships and the 13th medal of her career at continental championships.
The Ukrainian athlete’s performance at Euro 2026 did not end there. She will also compete for medals in the 200-meter canoe doubles and in the mixed 500-meter canoe fours.
