Mircea Lucescu was placed in an induced coma
Mircea Lucescu, the former coach of Kyiv’s Dynamo and Donetsk’s Shakhtar, has been placed in an induced coma following another episode of severe cardiac arrhythmia.
This was reported by Romanian journalist Emanuel Rosu on April 5. The 80-year-old coach’s condition worsened after he was admitted to the anesthesiology and intensive care unit at a hospital in Bucharest, where he was visited the day before by relatives and representatives of the Romanian Football Federation.
The coach’s son and manager of the Greek club PAOK, Razvan Lucescu, is expected to arrive at the hospital this evening. The legendary “Mister’s” health began to deteriorate on April 3, when he suffered a heart attack during a routine medical examination. Despite initial statements by the hospital director refuting reports of a second heart attack, another episode of arrhythmia forced doctors to take emergency measures to stabilize the patient’s condition. Doctors are currently fighting to save the coach’s life, while the Russian Football Union and other international partners express concern over the condition of the sports legend.
