Nigeria thrash New Caledonia 10-1 to reach U-20 World Cup round of 16
Nigeria's national team thrashed New Caledonia 10-1 in Łódź, Poland, and advanced to the round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. The team collected four points and finished second in Group F, behind only Spain.
Hat-tricks by Karim and David
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Ramatolahi Karim opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute, and two minutes later Rebecca Adegbemile doubled the lead. Janet Seimeyeha Akekoromoweyi scored the third goal in the 23rd minute, after which Karim struck again in the 27th.
In the second half, Winner Onajite David, Tosin Rafiu and Adegbemile scored. Karim and David each completed a hat-trick, while Adegbemile scored twice. New Caledonia's only goal was scored by Jocelyne Kurevi in the 89th minute.

Group stage results
Before the final group match, the Nigerians had only one point: the team lost 0-2 to Spain and drew 0-0 with China. The victory over New Caledonia was Nigeria's biggest at the U-20 Women's World Cups.
New Caledonia made its tournament debut. The team had previously lost 0-5 to China and 0-11 to Spain, conceding 26 goals and scoring one in total during the group stage.
