Sassuolo snatch victory over Juventus, Napoli beat Bologna
In Reggio Emilia, Italy, Sassuolo defeated Juventus 3-2 in a Serie A match thanks to a goal by Vasilije Adzic in the final seconds of the game. It was the Turin club’s first defeat of the season, Dawn reports.
Goal against his parent club
Sassuolo opened the scoring in the 65th minute: Nemanja Matic set up Sebastiano Esposito, who scored in his first match in the starting lineup for his new club. Edon Zhegrova equalized eight minutes before the end of regular time after capitalizing on a goalkeeper’s mistake.
In the 89th minute, Kieron Bove completed a counterattack by the hosts and appeared to secure victory for his team. However, less than two minutes later, Zhegrova equalized for a second time with a powerful strike. Juventus pushed forward in search of a winning goal but conceded on the counterattack: 20-year-old Montenegrin midfielder Adzic, who joined Sassuolo on loan from Juventus in the summer, scored the decisive goal with the final kick of the match.

With this win, Sassuolo drew level with Juventus on points, with both teams having seven. Turin head coach Luciano Spalletti said his players lost their balance when too many of them joined the attack. Before the match, Juventus had nine injured first-team players, while its starting lineup became the first in the club’s Serie A history without a single Italian outfield player.
Napoli end losing streak
In another match of the day, Napoli beat Bologna 1-0 at home to end a run of three defeats. The only goal in the 66th minute was scored by Slovak midfielder Stanislav Lobotka, who converted a low pass from Costantino Favasuli.
Early in the match, Arthur Theate headed the ball into Napoli’s net, but the goal was disallowed for offside. Kevin De Bruyne shot over the crossbar, while Rasmus Hojlund came close to scoring with a header. The victory lifted Napoli to 10th place with six points, while Bologna remained 16th with one point after four matches.
