Australia’s Adelaide Crows to contact police over trolling of captain Dawson
Australian club Adelaide Crows said it will contact South Australia Police over online trolling of its captain Jordan Dawson. The club will also provide information to the Australian Football League’s (AFL) integrity unit, ABC News Australia reports.
Messages after the defeat
Dawson received messages on social media referring to self-harm after the Crows’ loss to Brisbane in Saturday night’s semi-final. The footballer posted an image of the message he received on Instagram.
The club also said another player, Callum Ah Chee, was subjected to abuse. According to Adelaide Crows, the remarks directed at him were likely racist in nature. The club intends to raise this incident with the league.

Support for players
Crows chief executive Tim Silvers said Dawson and Ah Chee would receive the necessary support, as would other club representatives facing online attacks and abuse. According to him, such behaviour is becoming increasingly common and must stop.
In August, Dawson was named vice-captain at the All-Australian ceremony. In his speech, he spoke about mental health — a topic that became especially important to him after the death of his brother earlier this year.
