Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic reacted to British snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan’s historic achievement.
During the quarterfinals of the World Open tournament in China, O’Sullivan set an all-time record by scoring 153 points in a single break—the highest score in snooker history.
The record was made possible by the “free ball” rule following an opponent’s mistake. The Briton potted a series of 14 black and two pink balls, after which he completed the frame with a record-breaking break.
The previous record was held by Scotsman Jamie Burnett, who scored 148 points in a single series during the 2004 UK Championship qualifiers.
“Greatness knows no bounds,” Djokovic wrote on his Instagram.
O’Sullivan also holds other notable records, including the most maximum breaks (147)—he currently has 17. Additionally, he became the first player to surpass the 1,300 century break mark.
Earlier, Ukraine’s top-ranked player Elina Svitolina confidently advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells.
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva, ranked 108th in the world, successfully cleared the first hurdle on her way to the main draw of the super tournament in the U.S.
