Salah announced his departure from Liverpool after nine years with the club
Liverpool's legendary forward Mohamed Salah has officially confirmed that he will leave the team at the end of the 2025/26 season.
The Merseyside club’s press office announced that a mutual agreement had been reached to terminate his contract early, which was originally set to run through the summer of 2027.
The 33-year-old Egyptian winger insisted on making this information public as soon as possible to avoid rumors and ensure complete transparency with the fans.
Despite having one year remaining on his contract, the parties decided to end their partnership as a free agent this summer.
“Unfortunately, this day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I wanted to start by saying that I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, and these people would become a part of my life,” Mohamed Salah said in his emotional video message to fans.
Salah joined Liverpool in the summer of 2017, transferring from Italy’s AS Roma.
Over nine seasons, he became one of the most outstanding players in the club’s recent history, scoring over 250 goals and winning eight major trophies, including two Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph.
His contribution to the team’s success cannot be overstated, as he has won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and has been repeatedly named Player of the Season by his fellow players.
Currently, the Egyptian ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, trailing only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.
“Leaving a club is never easy. You have given me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be a home for me and my family,” the player added, concluding his message with the legendary phrase: “Thanks to all of you, I will never walk alone.”
As a reminder, the Atlético forward has signed a contract with an American club.
Also, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Ukrainian national soccer team will play a crucial semifinal playoff match in the World Cup qualifiers. The “blue-and-yellows” will face the Swedish national team.
