The Muzychuk sisters have made it into the top 20 female chess players in the world
The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has released its updated ratings as of June 1, 2026.
Ukrainian Grandmaster Anna Muzychuk remains among the leaders in the women’s rankings, holding 8th place in the world with a rating of 2522. Her sister, Maria Muzychuk, is also among the top 20 female chess players in the world, confirming the consistently high level of the Ukrainian women’s chess school.
Her younger sister, Maria Muzychuk (2463), has climbed to 19th place. Yulia Osmak (2455) is ranked 22nd, Anna Ushenina (2419) is 36th, Natalia Buksa (2389) is 56th, and Anastasia Rakhmanulova (2342) is 96th.
The women’s ranking continues to be led by China’s Hou Yifan (2596).
In the men’s rankings, Norway’s Magnus Carlsen (2841) holds a commanding lead.
Three Ukrainian chess players are in the top 100: 46. Ihor Kovalenko (2672), 52. Pavlo Eljanov (2664), 99. Vasyl Ivanchuk (2634).
