Maguchikh Patterson reacted emotionally to yet another defeat in the Diamond League
Australian high jumper Eleanor Patterson admitted that her failures at the 1.94-meter mark are starting to get on her nerves. The athlete commented on her performance after another loss to Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh in the Diamond League.
After the Diamond League meet, where she finished second, losing only to Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the Australian athlete noted that she had hoped for a better result, especially after her attempt at 1.97 m.
“I have mixed emotions after the competition. I’m happy with second place, but it’s starting to annoy me that I keep clearing 1.94 meters. It’s a bit frustrating because I know I’m capable of more,” the athlete said.
According to the 30-year-old track and field athlete, her performance was affected by a tight travel schedule: a competition in China, then a return to Australia to process a visa for Italy, and a subsequent competition in Rabat. She emphasized that she felt ready to achieve a better result, but so far she consistently stops at 1.94 meters.
The athlete added that her dissatisfaction with her current results is gradually building, although she sees the potential to reach a new level. In recent weeks, she has also missed some technical training sessions due to problems with both feet.
The athlete’s next competition is scheduled in Italy, which she described as almost a home arena for her.
