Svitolina crushed her opponent and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament in Stuttgart
Ukraine's top-ranked player, Elina Svitolina, put on a brilliant performance at the start of the WTA 500 clay-court tournament in Stuttgart, Germany.
In the round of 16, the Ukrainian tennis player gave Germany’s Eva Lys no chance, wrapping up the match in record time.
The match lasted just 55 minutes and was completely dominated by the Ukrainian, who is ranked seventh in the world.
Svitolina confidently won both sets 6-1, 6-0, forcing her opponent to concede defeat in the face of her skill. This was the first official meeting between the two athletes on a professional court.
The victory over the Kyiv native, who now competes under the German flag, allowed Elina to reach the quarterfinals in Stuttgart for the third time in her career.
It is noteworthy that during each of her appearances at this tournament, Svitolina has consistently reached at least the quarterfinals.
The current season has been exceptionally successful for the leader of Ukrainian tennis. The quarterfinal in Germany will be her fifth in 2026.
