Mexico discusses possible national team switch to CONMEBOL
Online rumors are spreading in Mexico about the possible transfer of the national football team from CONCACAF to the South American confederation CONMEBOL. Mexico News Daily examines how such a move could affect Mexico’s national team and Liga MX clubs.

The potential change of confederation could also open the way for Liga MX clubs to participate in the Copa Libertadores. The publication recalls that Cruz Azul competed in the tournament in 2012. CONMEBOL membership would also mean an opportunity for Mexico to play in the Copa América, although the Mexican national team may receive an invitation to the 2028 tournament even without a transfer.
