Apple unveils Apple Watch Series 12 smartwatch
Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 12 smartwatch during its product presentation on September 9. As The Verge reports, the new product became one of the company’s first products presented after John Ternus was appointed Apple’s chief executive officer.
First products under new leadership
John Ternus assumed the position of Apple CEO on September 1, replacing Tim Cook. Before that, he led the company’s hardware engineering division and directly oversaw the development of previous Apple Watch models.
Apple Watch Series 12 was presented one year after the announcement of Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3.

Features of the previous model
Apple Watch Series 11 was introduced last year with a starting price of $399 in versions with 42 mm and 46 mm cases. The model received 5G support, a hypertension monitoring feature, a Sleep Score sleep assessment, stronger Ion-X glass and improved battery life.
During the Series 11 announcement, it was also called Apple’s thinnest smartwatch, with a thickness of 9.7 mm. The Verge notes that despite a wave of price increases for most Apple devices earlier this year, the Apple Watch’s starting price has remained at $399 for several years.
