DeepSeek, in partnership with Huawei and chip developer Cambricon Technologies, is reworking the model's code to optimize performance on domestically produced Chinese processors. In addition to the main model, two other versions of V4 with distinct functionalities are in preparation.
Major Chinese tech firms such as Alibaba, ByteDance, and Tencent have also reportedly placed orders for hundreds of thousands of new Huawei processors to integrate into their own systems.
This collaboration emerges amid U.S. restrictions on advanced chip sales to China, driving Chinese companies to pivot aggressively toward homegrown hardware solutions and reduce reliance on foreign technology.
Therefore, DeepSeek and Huawei's joint effort represents a strategic move to enhance technological sovereignty and competitive strength in AI development within China.
This development signals to the global market China's growing capacity to produce and deploy advanced technology despite international constraints, paving the way for sustained growth in domestic AI capabilities.
