ESPN to raise prices for streaming plans from September 17 — The Verge

ESPN will raise prices for streaming subscriptions and some Disney Plus bundles with the ESPN Select plan starting September 17. The Verge reports, citing ESPN’s support page.

New ESPN prices

The monthly price of the ad-supported ESPN Select plan will increase from $12.99 to $13.99. The ESPN Unlimited plan will cost $31.99 per month instead of $29.99.

Annual ESPN Select subscriptions will rise from $129.99 to $139.99, while ESPN Unlimited will increase from $299.99 to $319.99. This is ESPN’s first price increase since launching its standalone streaming subscription in August last year.

Changes to Disney Plus and Hulu bundles

The price of the bundle with ad-supported Disney Plus, ad-supported Hulu, and ESPN Select will increase from $19.99 to $21.99 per month. The bundle with ad-free Disney Plus, ad-free Hulu, and ESPN Select will cost $32.99 instead of $29.99.

For subscribers to the legacy bundle with ad-free Disney Plus, ad-free Hulu, and ESPN Select, the monthly price will increase from $24.99 to $27.99. At the same time, Disney Plus bundles with ESPN Unlimited will remain unchanged. According to Axios, about 80% of Unlimited subscribers signed up through a bundle with Disney Plus and Hulu.

App features

When launching its standalone streaming subscription, ESPN updated its mobile app by adding a TikTok-style video feed and a personalized version of SportsCenter. The company also launched a feature in the app for watching multiple broadcasts simultaneously on major smart TV platforms.
