Insta360 has unveiled the X6, a more compact 360-degree action camera capable of 8K video
Insta360 has unveiled the X6 360-degree action camera, which is shorter and lighter than its predecessor, the X5. The new model features two specially designed 1/1.1-inch square Sony sensors and supports 8K video recording at up to 50 frames per second, according to The Verge.
The X5 and X4 Air models, introduced last year, could record 8K video at up to 30 frames per second. According to Insta360, the new sensors have 33% more surface area than 1/1.28-inch sensors and capture four times more light per frame.

The X6 is slightly wider and thicker than the X5, but it’s about an inch shorter and 4 grams lighter. The camera features a 2.32-inch OLED touchscreen on the back. It’s smaller than the X5’s 2.5-inch LCD display but uses an OLED panel.
The new model retains the interchangeable lenses introduced with the X5. According to the company, the new replacement lenses are five times more scratch-resistant and 60% cheaper. The Insta360 X6 is now available in black and white from the manufacturer’s online store and other retailers, starting at $699.99—$150 more than the X5. An Essentials Bundle is also available for $799.99, which includes an extra battery, an invisible selfie stick, a fast-charging case, and other accessories.
