Sandbar has raised a total of $36 million to develop its Stream voice AI platform
Sandbar, a startup developing the Stream private voice ring, has raised a total of $36 million in funding. Specifically, the company secured $23 million in a Series A round led by Adjacent and Kindred Ventures, according to TechCrunch.
Stream is part of a new wave of wearable devices with artificial intelligence capabilities. Such gadgets, particularly rings, are designed to capture spontaneous thoughts and ideas using voice commands.

Various AI-powered note-taking devices are already available on the market: compact gadgets the size of a credit card, pendants, badges, and earbuds with transcription capabilities. Their developers claim that these devices can record meetings and convert the recordings into summaries and to-do lists.
Mina Fahmy, co-founder and CEO of Sandbar, explained in an episode of the Equity podcast why, in his opinion, many voice-activated devices that appeared before Stream struggled to succeed in the market. He also stated that maintaining user control over the device is crucial for the development of wearable technology.
