Lithuanian company Granta Autonomy has unveiled its innovative Black Wasp interceptor drone

The Lithuanian company Granta Autonomy has unveiled its new Black Wasp interceptor drone, designed to counter reconnaissance UAVs, attack drones, and loitering munitions such as the “Shahed.”

The drone is equipped with a flight control system based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, which enables automatic targeting and tracking of targets even when GPS signals are jammed by electronic warfare systems.

The new drone is also capable of integrating with most NATO radars to obtain real-time three-dimensional telemetry. This information, citing an official statement from the developers, was reported by the defense publication “Militarne.”

From a technical standpoint, the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) drone weighs about 4 kg, carries a 500-gram payload, and is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 320 km/h with a flight range of 20 km. The interceptor operates within a unified ecosystem alongside the company’s other products—the Hornet XR reconnaissance drone and the X-Wing kamikaze drone. Founded by engineers Giediminas Guoba and Laurynas Litvinas, the company adapts its systems through direct testing in combat zones and, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, has been supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with thousands of reconnaissanceand FPV drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine every year since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

The company reported this to “Military.”

Ukrainian drone developers from the company “Wild Hornets” have discovered through practical experience that an interceptor’s excessive speed does not always help shoot down Russian Shaheds more effectively, and in real combat conditions, the balance between speed and flight time has proven to be more important.

Ukrainian P1-Sun drones have shot down over 3,500 Shaheds in half a year—video.
