LS Cable & System to develop AI data center infrastructure
South Korean company LS Cable & System has signed a memorandum of understanding with the AI Factory Frontier consortium to jointly develop artificial intelligence data center projects. This was reported by the Korea Herald.

The partnership will cover AI data center projects, from assessing electricity demand and site evaluation to infrastructure development. LS Cable & System plans to use superconducting systems for external power grids and bus ducts, as well as fiber-optic cables for internal networks.
According to the company, its system can transmit power comparable to that of a 154-kilovolt high-voltage system using 23-kilovolt medium-voltage lines. This makes it possible to use existing substations, reduce the need for new substations, and cut the space required for installation. LS Cable & System said it was the first company in the world to commercialize such a system.

Consortium members
AI Factory Frontier includes companies specializing in graphics processors, power equipment, cooling, architecture, and business development. Naewae Architects will be responsible for design, Ezwell AI for GPUs and artificial intelligence infrastructure platforms, and Woojin Electric for power equipment. Enfield P&D will handle business development, while Iljin E&S will be responsible for cooling systems and renewable energy.
LS Cable & System plans to expand its operations from supplying individual products to offering power infrastructure solutions at the early stages of AI data center development.
