Saudi Arabian minister discusses AI partnerships in Silicon Valley

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha held a series of meetings in Silicon Valley, California, with executives of international technology and investment companies. During the first day of his visit, he discussed investments and partnerships in artificial intelligence, computing capacity and advanced technologies, Asharq Al-Awsat reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency.

Meetings with investors

Alswaha met with Ben Horowitz, co-founder and general partner at Andreessen Horowitz. The parties discussed expanding the company’s investments in the kingdom and in Saudi startups. They also discussed connecting companies from Andreessen Horowitz’s investment portfolio to HUMAIN’s computing capacity to support their development in Saudi Arabia and the region, as well as Saudi companies’ access to global markets.

At a meeting with Sequoia Capital partner Alfred Lin, the minister discussed increasing the fund’s investments in Saudi companies in the fields of AI and advanced technologies. Topics also included Sequoia Capital portfolio companies’ access to HUMAIN’s computing capabilities and support for the growth and international expansion of Saudi companies.

AI in chip development

Separately, Alswaha met with TenX Semi CEO and co-founder Suk Hwan Lim. They considered the use of AI agents in chip design and verification, accelerating development cycles, and the application of autonomous design technologies to develop Saudi Arabia’s capabilities to create advanced semiconductors.

According to the agency, these meetings are part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand international partnerships, attract investment in AI and advanced technologies, and support the development and entry of local startups into global markets.
