Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis remake to be released on February 12
A remake of the first game in the Tomb Raider series, titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is planned for release on February 12. Journalists and influencers were shown a 20-minute gameplay segment at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, Dawn reports.
In the episode shown, Lara Croft explores an abandoned tomb in Greece, fights panthers and dodges giant swords falling from the ceiling. The heroine has retained her recognizable look of a blue top and brown shorts. Her acrobatic movements are accompanied by realistic graphics and sarcastic remarks.

Game director Raul Sequeira called working with one of the best-known video game heroines a great responsibility. According to him, the team adapted and changed some of Lara Croft's lines, but did not change the plot.
Art director Arek Tomaszewski said that the developers sought to portray Croft as a strong heroine rather than an object of sexual attraction. The first Tomb Raider, released in November 1996, stood out at the time for its three-dimensional graphics and fearless protagonist, who became one of the symbols of the gaming industry.

Connection to the Survivor trilogy
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is intended to bring players back to the series' first adventure with modern controls and graphics. Tomaszewski believes that players accustomed to games from 2026 would find it very difficult to complete the original release.
According to Sequeira, the new game continues Lara's story from the Survivor trilogy, which began in 2013. The director explained that Legacy of Atlantis depicts the heroine much later in life, at the peak of her abilities.
American company Crystal Dynamics and Polish company Flying Wild Hog, which belong to Sweden's Embracer group, worked on the game for more than three years. Amazon's gaming division is the publisher, while British actress Alix Wilton Regan provided Lara Croft's voice. After Shadow of the Tomb Raider, released eight years ago, the developers also plan a completely new game in the series in 2028.
