The $399.99 Sennheiser Momentum 5 headphones provide up to 57 hours of battery life, feature eight microphones for active noise cancellation, and support Dolby Atmos. TechCrunch published these conclusions after several weeks of testing in its review.

Sound and noise cancellation

The publication’s reviewer described the model’s sound as balanced: vocals sound natural, while the bass is pronounced but does not overpower other details in tracks. Dolby Atmos support is intended to create a surround-sound effect when listening to music or watching films.

In the new generation, Sennheiser doubled the number of microphones to eight. According to TechCrunch, this noticeably reduces the volume of nearby voices and conversations. The company says the headphones may be up to three times more effective than the previous model at blocking such noise. At the same time, the noise cancellation does not completely isolate the listener from powerful sounds such as the hum of an aircraft engine.

Battery life and settings

The claimed battery life of up to 57 hours was confirmed during testing, the publication notes. Ten minutes of charging provide up to seven hours of playback, while a full charge takes about two hours.

Momentum 5 features include a battery that users can replace themselves after it loses capacity, as well as a slim carrying case. The Smart Control Plus app allows users to adjust the eight-band equalizer, the level of active noise cancellation, and the wind-noise protection mode. The Sound Personalization feature offers an audio test to create a sound profile based on listening preferences.

TechCrunch noted that the model is heavier than the Sony WH-1000XM6 and is less comfortable than some Sony and Apple headphones. At the same time, its price is lower than those competing models, while sound quality and battery life were cited as its strengths.
