Ukraine will fund the development of humanoid soldier robots for the front lines
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, in collaboration with the Brave1 state defense technology cluster, has announced the launch of a special grant competition aimed at developing domestically produced humanoid robots for use on the front lines.
The main goal of the initiative is to maximize the automation of the front lines in order to save the lives of Ukrainian servicemen amid the battlefield being completely saturated with enemy drones. This was reported by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who emphasized the importance of transitioning to a format where, in war, “technology fights technology.”
Andriy Hrytsenyuk, head of the Brave1 cluster, noted that this step is in line with current global trends, as the humanoid robotics industry is currently booming in the U.S. and China. In the initial stages, Ukrainian developers will create simpler platforms, which will become more complex over time. Unlike the global civilian sector, the Ukrainian program will be entirely focused on specific defense tasks and engineering solutions that will directly help the Armed Forces of Ukraine hold their positions.
